Finding Your Way: SA Workspaces

Finding Your Way: SA Workspaces

The localisation groups everything into workspaces you reach from the left sidebar of the desk. Each workspace gathers the transactions, masters and reports for one area.

The workspaces

Workspace What's in it You'll use it for
SA Overview Setup shortcuts and links to every SA area Getting oriented; opening settings
SA VAT VAT settings, VAT201 return, VAT reports, tax templates Day-to-day VAT and the periodic return
SA Payroll Salary components, payroll entry, salary slips, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, payroll reports Running payroll (only if Frappe HR is installed)
SA Labour SETA, bargaining councils, skills (WSP/ATR), Employment Equity, business trips Skills and EE reporting; staff travel
SA COIDA COIDA settings, workplace injuries, OID claims, annual return Injury records and the COIDA return

If you don't see SA Payroll, Frappe HR (HRMS) isn't installed on your site — payroll features are turned off. That's expected on VAT-only sites.

Getting around

  • Open a workspace from the sidebar; the cards and shortcuts inside jump to lists, new documents and reports.
  • Search with the search bar (or press Ctrl/Cmd + K) and type a document name like "Sales Invoice", "Payroll Entry" or "VAT201 Return".
  • Lists show existing records with filters at the top; + Add (or New) creates a new one.
  • Reports are listed in each workspace and in the global report view — see Finding & Running Reports.

A typical day

  • Sales/finance user: SA VAT workspace → raise Sales Invoices, capture Purchase Invoices, and at period-end build the VAT201 Return.
  • Payroll user: SA Payroll workspace → Payroll Entry each month, review and submit slips, then EMP201; IRP5/EMP501 at year-end.
  • HR user: SA Labour and SA COIDA workspaces → skills plans, EE reports, injury records.
